The Photojournalists’ Center of the Philippines, Inc. strongly condemns the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza on August 10, 2025. The slain journalists — Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal — were killed, along with two others, when the Israeli military launched a targeted attack on their tent outside al-Shifa Hospital.
Israel’s war on Gaza has claimed the lives of 270 journalists and media workers since October 7, 2023. Journalists are not targets. The deliberate attack on members of the press is an attempt by the Israeli government to silence coverage of its continued occupation and the genocide it is perpetrating.
The Photojournalists’ Center of the Philippines, Inc. stands in solidarity with journalists and media workers in Gaza who face daily threats, violence, and hunger amid the war. We call for the immediate protection of media workers who risk their lives to report the truth from the ground.
